Included in the Federal Register of Experts in the Scientific and Technical Sphere, expert of the Russian Science Foundation. Author of 12 monographs on the history of Russia and Central and Eastern Europe in the Middle Ages and early modern times.

Teaches courses on the methodology and theory of history, the history of Slavic and Balkan countries in the 15th-17th centuries, the history of the German Order, problems of ethnicity and historical memory.
