One of Joseph Brodsky's closest friends. Being an older and more experienced comrade, he has been watching the formation of the poet and the development of his creative personality. He was at trial on trumped-up charges and also visited Joseph in his exile.

He carried out the first publications of Brodsky's poems in his homeland. The author of books about life and work of the poet in a historical context.
